After graduating nursing school with a focus in geriatrics, I became aware of my need for further experience and care work, in particular, with dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s clients in senior and community centers, memory care, and in-home settings. I trained with WA State Alzheimer’s Association and Northwest Parkinson’s Association to serve as a Support Group Leader. Working with these Associations showed me the real need for senior foot care, and I recognized my calling for compassionate and professional care. 8 years ago, I moved to Orcas to care for my aging mom. While here, I developed Foot Care with a Heart, LLC, now serving three of the San Juan Islands. Recently we opened a home studio, The Bee Hive, a relaxing space for clients to receive care, enjoy the bird feeders and sip a cup of coffee.
