With a thriving group of young families settling down and growing in the San Juan Islands, the education and youth resource options on Orcas Island have blossomed over the years. Families have their choice of the Orcas Island Public School system, or a variety of private schools to choose from. There is also a strong homeschool presence on Orcas, as well as options for remote education. All children are different, and there is a plethora of diverse options to best meet each family’s different needs. They say it takes a village, and Orcas Island is a strong community to raise a family in.

The new F.E.A.S.T. program formed in 2020 actively engages young adults in the hands-on experiences that teach them how to understand, grow, harvest, reap and prepare foods that will sustain them in good times and bad, and ensure that they will have the tools to thrive. Farm to Cafeteria Program

Orcas Island is located off the coast of Washington State in the San Juan Islands.  We have had an active and vibrant farm to cafeteria program since 2005 which includes our newly expanded garden, our K-8 Farm to Classroom, and fresh scratch-cooked meals in the school cafeteria using locally grown organic produce and meats.
